Vocational Schools Online

Bowling Green SC student attending online vocational programSchools available online have become very popular with Bowling Green SC students and more and more accredited programs are being offered. Even though online learning is a very convenient and accessible way to obtain a degree or certificate, it may not be the ideal option for every vocation or trade. For example, learning to drive a tractor trailer is not something that you can do online, nor is training how to weld. These are skills that must be learned through hands on training and by doing it, not by reading about it or watching videos. But certain components of the training may be suitable for online learning, for example learning safety and driving guidelines for truck driving schools or learning about metallurgy or how to read blueprints for welding schools. Many programs will combine online education with on campus lab work, for example for electrician or welding schools. So it is essential to find out before enrolling in an online program for any vocation if there is a suitable amount of hands-on training devoted to the syllabus. One means to help establish est that a vocational school program is both suitable for online learning and delivers in-depth practical training is to confirm that it’s accredited by a nationally acknowledged accrediting organization (more on accreditation later). For those vocations that are appropriate for online training, it can be a practical way for individuals with limited time to acquire a new trade.

Concerns to Ask Trade Schools

Questions to ask Bowling Green SC trade schoolsOnce you have decided on the vocation and type of degree or certificate that you would like to attain, either online or on campus, you can start to decrease your selection of schools. As you are no doubt aware, there are numerous technical schools in the  Bowling Green SC area and throughout the USA to pick from. That’s why it is essential to have a list of important qualifiers when making school evaluations. As earlier mentioned in our opening paragraph, tuition and location will undoubtedly be the first 2 factors you will consider. Following are some additional ones that you will want to research before enrolling in your school of choice.

Accredited.  Numerous Bowling Green SC area technical schools have attained either a regional or a national accreditation. They may acquire Institutional Accreditation, which involves the school’s programs overall, or Programmatic Accreditation, which pertains to a specific program, for instance HVAC technology. Make sure that the school is accredited by a U.S. Department of Education approved accrediting agency, for example the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Along with helping ensure that you obtain a quality education, it can help in obtaining financial aid or student loans, which are often unavailable for non-accredited schools. Furthermore, many states require that the  training course be accredited in order to qualify for licensing where applicable.

How Long in Operation? One clue to help determine the quality of a trade school near Bowling Green SC is how long it has been in business. A negatively reviewed or a fly by night school typically will not stay in business very long, so longevity is a big plus. On the other hand, even the best of schools had to begin from their opening day of training, so use it as one of several qualifiers.

Completion Rates.  Ask the trade schools you are considering what their completion rates are. The completion rate is the portion or percentage of students who enroll in and complete the program. A low completion rate might indicate that students were disappointed with the program and dropped out. It may also signify that the teachers were not competent to train the students. It’s also essential that the schools have higher job placement rates. Older and/or more reputable schools may have a broader directory of alumni, which can mean more contacts for the school to use for their apprenticeship and job placement programs. A high job placement rate can not only validate that the school has an excellent reputation within the trade, but additionally that it has the network of contacts to assist grads acquire apprenticeships or jobs in the Bowling Green SC area.

Apprenticeship Programs.  Most technical programs are taught along with an apprenticeship or an internship program. Those participating vocational and trade schools will help place you in an apprenticeship program inside their network of contractors or trade unions. Check if the schools you are comparing have referring partnerships with Bowling Green SC area companies in the trade. An apprenticeship not only provides a valuable experience by providing hands-on training, but it also supplies job opportunities and helps to form relationships in the local professional community.

Modern Facilities.  Confirm that the school facilities and the equipment that you will be instructed on are state-of-the-art and what you will be using on the job. If you are presently in an internship or an apprenticeship, talk to the technician you are working with concerning what you should be looking for. Otherwise, ask a local Bowling Green SC company if they can provide some tips. Also keep in mind that unless you are able to relocate, the school must be within commuting distance of your home. Take note that if you decide to enroll in an out-of-state school, besides the added moving costs there might be increased tuition fees compared to in-state residents.

Smaller Classes.   It’s desirable that you receive as much personalized training as possible, which can be difficult in bigger classes. Ask if you can monitor a couple of the classes so that you can see how large they are and experience the interaction between students and teachers. Talk with some of the students and get their opinions regarding class sizes and instruction. Finally, speak with a few of the instructors and learn what their level of experience is in South Carolina and what degrees or certifications they have earned.

Flexible Scheduling.  Confirm that the class schedules for the programs you are evaluating are flexible enough to meet your needs. If you can only attend classes at night or on weekends near Bowling Green SC, check that the schools you are reviewing provide those options. If you can only attend part-time, make sure that the school you select allows part-time enrollment. Also, check out what the protocol is to make-up classes should you miss any due to work, illness or family emergencies.

    Bowling Green Falcons football

The Bowling Green Falcons football team is the intercollegiate football team of Bowling Green State University. The team is a member of the NCAA, playing at the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division I-A, level; BGSU football competes within the Mid-American Conference in the East Division. The Falcons have played their home games in Doyt Perry Stadium since 1966.[3] The stadium currently holds 24,000 spectators.[4] In their 93-year history, the Falcons have won 12 MAC championships and a College Division national championship – as voted by the UPI in 1959. The current head coach is Scot Loeffler.

The football program was born shortly after the university opened, at the time known as the Bowling Green Normal School.[5] In the early years of Bowling Green State Normal College, common nicknames of BG athletic teams used by sports writers were “B.G. Normals,” “Teachers,” and the “B.G. Pedagogues".[6] The team began play in 1919 and played on a local field behind the Ridge Street School in Bowling Green, Ohio.[7] The first team was composed of nineteen male students, over half of the 36 men that enrolled in the college.[7] The roster included Ivan "Doc" Lake, who would later would give the Falcons their nickname.[7]John Stitt served as the program's first football coach during the initial 3-game 1919 season.[7] The first football game in BG's history was held on October 3, 1919 against Toledo University, a series that would turn into a rivalry that still exists in the present day. The game ended with a 6–0 score.[8] The second game of the season marked BG's first road game at Defiance College, where the team dropped to 0–2 with a 12–0 shutout.[8] In the final game of the short season the team lost to Michigan State Normal College (Eastern Michigan) 10–0.[8] In the 1920 season, BG recorded its first score in a 10-6 loss at Findlay College.[9] The 1920 team later recorded the program's first win, in the eighth and final game of the season, when the team defeated Kent State Normal College 7–0.[9]

The team joined the Northwest Ohio League starting in the 1921 season.[9] In the first game BG and Kent battled to a scoreless tie in a game that saw no fan attendance due to influenza epidemic. After a 7–0 win over Defiance, BG faced Findlay on October 15, 1921 in a game that set a national collegiate record in which BG scored 22 touchdowns to win 151–0 over Findlay College.[7][9] Despite dropping the following game 27–0 to Ashland College, the team finished the season with a record of 3–1–1 and won the Northwest Ohio League conference championship, the first title in school history.[7] The team would repeat as the NWOIAA Champions in 1922, 1925, 1928 and 1929.[7]
