Online Vocational Schools

Bonnieville KY student attending online vocational programTrade Schools online have become more attractive with Bonnieville KY students and increasingly more accredited programs are being offered. Even though online learning is a readily available and practical way to acquire a certificate or degree, it may not be the best option for every vocation or trade. For instance, training to drive a semi truck is not something that you can accomplish online, nor is learning how to weld. These are skills that must be acquired through practical training and by doing it, not by reading about it or watching videos. But certain elements of the training can be appropriate for online classes, such as learning safety and driving regulations for truck driving schools or studying metallurgy or how to read blueprints for welding schools. Many programs will blend online education with on-campus lab work, for example for HVAC or plumbing schools. So it is essential to find out before enrolling in an online school for any vocation if there is an appropriate amount of hands-on training devoted to the curriculum. One way to help establish est that a trade school program is both suitable for online studying and provides comprehensive practical training is to confirm that it’s accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization (more on accreditation later). For those trades that are suitable for training online, it can be a convenient way for those with limited time to learn a new profession.

What to Ask Trade School Programs

Questions to ask Bonnieville KY trade schoolsOnce you have chosen the trade and type of certificate or degree that you want to attain, either on campus or online, you can start to limit your selection of schools. As you are certainly aware, there are many trade schools in the  Bonnieville KY area and all over the United States to pick from. That’s why it is very important to have a list of key qualifiers when making school evaluations. As earlier stated in our opening paragraph, location and tuition will probably be the first 2 variables you will look at. Following are some additional ones that you will want to research before enrolling in your school of choice.

Accredited.  A large number of Bonnieville KY area vocational schools have acquired either a regional or a national accreditation. They may acquire Institutional Accreditation, which focuses on the school’s programs as a whole, or Programmatic Accreditation, which relates to an individual program, for instance HVAC technology. Verify that the program is accredited by a U.S. Department of Education approved accrediting agency, for instance the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Along with helping guarantee that you receive a superior education, it may assist in acquiring financial assistance or student loans, which are frequently not available for non-accredited schools. Also, a number of states mandate that the  training course be accredited for it to be approved for licensing where applicable.

How Long in Business? One clue to help evaluate the quality of a trade school near Bonnieville KY is how long it has been in operation. A negatively rated or a fly by night school usually will not stay in business very long, so longevity is a big plus. On the other hand, even the top schools had to begin from their opening day of training, so consider it as one of multiple qualifiers.

Completion Rates.  Ask the vocational schools you are looking at what their completion rates are. The completion rate is the portion or percentage of students who enroll in and complete the course. A low completion rate may suggest that students were dissatisfied with the course and dropped out. It might also mean that the instructors were not qualified to train the students. It’s also important that the schools have higher job placement rates. Older and/or more reputable schools may have a broader directory of graduates, which may produce more contacts for the school to use for their apprenticeship and job placement programs. A high job placement rate will not only confirm that the school has an excellent reputation within the field, but also that it has the network of contacts to help students obtain apprenticeships or jobs in the Bonnieville KY area.

Apprenticeship Programs.  Most training programs are taught together with an apprenticeship or an internship program. Those participating trade and vocational programs will help place you in an apprenticeship program within their network of contractors or trade unions. Ask if the schools you are reviewing have referring partnerships with Bonnieville KY area specialists in the trade. An apprenticeship not only offers a rewarding experience by providing practical training, but it also supplies job opportunities and helps to establish relationships in the regional professional community.

Modern Facilities.  Confirm that the school facilities and the tools that you will be instructed on are state-of-the-art and what you will be working with on the job. If you are presently in an internship or an apprenticeship, talk to the technician you are working with regarding what you should be expecting. If not, ask a local Bonnieville KY contracting company if they can provide some tips. Additionally bear in mind that unless you are able to move, the school must be within commuting distance of your home. Take note that if you decide to attend an out-of-state school, besides the added moving costs there can be increased tuition fees compared to in-state residents.

Smaller Classes.   It’s important that you get as much individualized training as possible, which can be challenging in bigger classes. Ask if you can sit in on a couple of the classes so that you can see how big they are and experience the interaction between instructors and students. Talk with a few of the students and get their comments concerning class sizes and instruction. Finally, speak with a few of the instructors and find out what their level of experience is in Kentucky and what degrees or certifications they hold.

Flexible Scheduling.  Verify that the class schedules for the programs you are reviewing are flexible enough to fulfill your needs. If you are only able to go to classes in the evening or on weekends near Bonnieville KY, confirm that the programs you are considering offer those choices. If you can only attend part-time, make sure that the school you select allows part-time enrollment. Finally, check out what the policy is to make-up classes should you miss any because of work, sickness or family issues.

    Bonnieville, Kentucky

Founded in 1849, the town was originally known as Bacon Creek,[2] for the stream that runs through the city. It is rumored that the name was changed to Bonnieville because of the popularity of the song "My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean".[3]

On December 26, 1862, the Confederate John Hunt Morgan sent a detachment from Upton to the bridge over Bacon Creek in Bonnieville. A brief firefight with a detachment of the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry Regiment resulted with the destruction of the bridge for a third time and the wounding of 23. The railroad remained closed for six weeks until the tracks could be repaired and reopened on February 1.[4]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land. U.S. Route 31W passes through the middle of Bonnieville, with most of the city concentrated around this highway's two intersections with Kentucky Route 728. Bonnieville is accessible from Exit 71 on Interstate 65. Part of the original main line of the historic Louisville and Nashville Railroad (now CSX) passes through the city. Bacon Creek, a tributary of the Nolin River, bisects the city.
